Ordered this truck the first year they offered the 6.5TD. Am planning on putting on a free flowing exhaust and would like some input on which is best. Also, have decided that propane injection will give me the best bang for the buck and have found that Bullydog and the Powershot 2000 are the only ones out there that offer this add-on. True? Any major difference between the two that would warrant one over the other?

I have a kennedy exhaust system on mine. It is 3-1/2" all the way except for the downpipe which is 3" It is a little loud but not bad. It comes with stainless steel band clamps instead of the regular u-bolt clamps. They are much easier to use and you can take it apart again if you want. (you can see it at www.kennedydiesel.com )

I got mine used for a real good deal and it still went together perfect even though it had been on another truck for a few thousand miles.

The only thing I know about propane systems is that you want one that turns on with turbo boost pressure. I believe the Powershot 2000 one does. (I have seen them here: http://www.lubespecialist.com/ )

Be careful, read the posts at TDP abpout doing business with him.

He spends more time attacking other vendors than he does providing service.

What did the fuel rate go from when you changed it from the lowest to the highest setting?

Bill,

I'm glad you had a good experience with this vendor, I would caution you to heed his own sites advice though about site product recommendations, I have heard more bad than good about this vendor from members and not advertisers at more than one site.

His boost control similar to others out there I found at a competitor for $90, he says IC $1400 actually $1300 is current price at site he quotes price of PMD kit from, as for under bumper location, there really aren't a whole lot of better easy to fit options, bugs are a problem for grill mounted IC as well, if I off roaded this truck under bumper isn't a good location as he states but his alternative is WMI, if WMI were the absolute way to go, why are P-Stroke, D-Max, Cummins using IC, you gotta have plenty of clean water to inject, put some mineralized water to the turbo and see how long it holds up, plus turbos really aren't designed long term for water ingestion. For me IC is better option, & as this for me is a tow rig that I don't off road much I've had no probs being under bumper. Turbo lag into a IC as before I'm towing not racing, with boost control set properly, turbo lag can't be felt as far as I can tell in my tests.

$490 vs $ 510 He is quoting same site prices as I'm looking at, but only correct on that price, why is he selective in price quotes, plus he lists you can't buy separately you can at the other site buy what you need. A lot of negative tone in the site, it reminds me of polititical mud slinging preaching I'm good because the other guy is bad.

As he says cavieat emptor If I spelled it wrong my apologies.

I don't think I would ever order anything from a bussiness that has half the links broken and doesen't even have their own domain. It isn't like it costs more than $30 or $40 per year. It looks like the kind of place that could be gone tommorow and never see your order. (I only said looks, I know absolutely nothing about them except what I saw on the website)

You said that his exhaust systems are so much better but he doesn't even have a picture of the whole system, just a muffler. I would never put out over $500 for pipes without knowing what I was getting. I doubt that the clamps are any better either. The clamps are really nice stainless steel band clamps. He doesn't even say what kind of clamps are included. If they are just U-bolt clamps then they are very inferior, if they are band clamps then they are probably the same exact brand.

I was taught not to do business with companies that don't give addresses and phone numbers on their websites. Companies that have nothing to hide should be glad to have people be able to contact them.

Just a personal choice I have made.

Getting back to Lamonr's original question several ways to go about it as you can see from previous posts, I went the IC route despite all supposed ills so have many others, without trouble.

My 1st mod was open exhaust, and inlet filtration. At the time I went with Banks exhaust, I did not know the others then, come to find out it was higher than others but a good system, I started to go propane and BD, Banks, & Powershot all said I wasn't ready for it at that time, I'm ready now but can't afford it right now. I'd probably go 4" vs 3.5" I have now (Bigger gotta be better
diameter envy)probably no measurable difference 3.5 vs 4"

Key to Diesel power is airflow 1st then you can add fuel to take advantage of air you added. Overheat is a real problem with the 6.5 GM would not have upgraded it's design if improved cooling wasn't necessary. In a daily driver maybe it's overkill, but sustained HD towing the extra cooling requirement becomes apparent. When you add fuel/boost; heat does go up; IC reduces heat, I guess so does misting I don't know as I've not used that on a Diesel myself.

I don't know in Diesels but in gas turbines which is a fueled turbocharger basically which do I know; misting is used for power augment, and NoX supression, in that machine water chemistry and purity are a real concern, maybe the filter Diesel Bill mentions fixes that it is just a concern I have; I'm not saying one is better than the other.

I would recommend you go to Banks web site and go through their info section some good common sense info on Diesels in general www.bankspower.com yes it's slanted to their offerings but also some good info from somebody that has been in the business a very long time and a qualified expert on Diesel performance mods.Edited by: Turbine Doc

Same thing goes for you. Prove that your attacks on JK are justified. Where are these people he cheated??

I don't have names but go search on TDP for A! and I'm sure you can find the thread posted about the refusal of A1 to take back defective product and refund money.

Doing our best not to over Police, But .....

I've seen this purely opinionated argument go no where on other Forums .... I'm by no way picking sides other then to keep it clean and on topic non argumentive .... Once it goes completely south, it has begun the trek south, I will have to close the topic, and be more rigorous in ending it quicker before it starts in the future if it should arise .... We will take all the necessary follow up steps also.....

It is purely a vendor war, the subject always has been, take it off line please .....

Thanks for your corporation in this manner ....Keep it on topic ....

DieselBill, What fuel rate does the fuel controll give?
I would buy one if he gave a money back guarentee if it
did not show any gain in HP on a dyno. I was reading that
the fuel rate can be changed with a tech 2 to the max flow
of the pump, 80mm I think.

DieselBill, Can the fuel rate be changed while driving or does the truck need to be shut off first?

Joey if you can find a dealer willing you can have your PCM reset to the later program I read some where for about $75, my 99 L65 PCM delivers 78mm according to my Snap on scanner (99-01 are the 78 mm program years), which is significantly better than th 63mm L56 setting.

I think you will need a good VIN for the dealer to work with though, I can PM you mine if you like but it's not exact for my set up, some odd results when I use scan tool, the PCM is from a 99 3/4T 2wd van I'm 4x4 so some of the tool functional tests don't work as it's not a function programmed into the van's PCM it came out of.

Joey D;

I took my truck in for a bad IP, and the first (useless) dealer re-falshed my PCM, and voila! 78mm.... She used to smoke like a banshee too, with the old exhaust... If you're still in the warranty period (I'm not....
) maybe you can get your re-flashed if you IP were top suddenly start acting up....
