Just bought a new '06 Duramax crewcab to tow our travel trailer with and so far, it has done well. We actually bought it while in Houston visting over Thanksgiving so we got to tow our travel trailer back to NM with it. I had an '03 6.0L Chevy that I traded for the Duramx because it didn't tow the 8000 pound Cougar without effort. The Duramax doesn't even know the trailer is hooked up! Quite a difference! The fuel mileage isn't what I expected, but the power and ease of towing make the diesel well worth the investment. Actually, we're now thinking of going to a fifth wheel and adding some length since the diesel doesn't seem to have a problem with the added weight. Well, that's about it. . .I'll post some pics of the new Duramax when I get them.

So far, so good. The real test will be this May when we tow the travel trailer up to the mountains for the summer. It will go from 4000 feet elevation to 9200 feet up a pretty steep grade. My former gasser was at 5000rpm doing 35mph when we got to the top. . .can't wait to see how the Duramax handles it!

Thanks for the welcome. We're in Las Cruces, but have friends in Roswell. We spend the summers up in Cloudcroft, so you know how the climb is coming out of Las Cruces going up there! That was my primary reason for wanting the diesel. I think it's going to work out very well.
