hey guys i just got my tst back from manufacturer and is now the competition box. I just took it out and it runs much much stronger than it did but the egts are crazy. i set the egt defuel up to 1400 and she defueled (pegged 1450) half way through second gear. Im running the stock air box and a factory exhaust which is straight piped and thought i would be ok. Question is will a mbrp 5" and AFE Stage II bring down the egts and if so how much can i expect. I also ordered a PPE boost valve but havent put it on because i dont want anymore heat!! Thanks guys

You should have a restrictive waste gate fitting from tst, no need for boost valve from ppe, filter and exh may drop it 100-150 deg. Mine ran super hot don't look at guage.LOL

i bought the tuner second hand so i dont have their boost increase valve. I figured next best thing would be a ppe. wow i thought it would be more, so reguardless what i do other than say water meth or intercooler shes going to stay really hot. Im just worried cause the old tune never went over 1000 degrees the whole time i had it but this one will go thats hot at about half throttle. Thanks

Old Tune = Less Fuel ; less egt's

New Tune = MORE FUEL ; more EGT's

Don't know for sure but it sounds like the "new tune" had a lot of fuel and not a whole lot of timing added.

I agree turbeau with the more fuel. When i talked to tst about there comp tune they said it only put the power on sooner in the rpm range and doesnt give more power, but i can tell its alot more power and it smokes 10 fold what it used to. Honestly there is too much smoke, im hoping maybe the extra 10psi of boost with the PPE crack pipe will burn the added fuel more completely and maybe lower the egts a little. i will find out tomorrow. I hear everyone say that 1600 degrees is ok for short bursts but still that worries me. I have seen CTDs melt down at 1600 and its not pretty!!

the boost valve will lower your egts by a couple of hundred

Just remember, you have a duramax not a STD;). I should have bought a 2200deg one so I could use it. the 1600deg doesn't last too long.

im going to throw the boost valve on when i get home from work today and see if it does lower the egts. I am going to redlines dyno day saturday and im just worried i will have to let off of it due to the egts. Anything over 1600 just isnt worth it IMO, wheter it doesnt hurt now im pretty sure it would in the long haul. If the ppe doesnt bring it down, i just may run out and get exhaust and intake for it. I may check on a water meth kit i hear they drop 300-400 degrees, we will see i guess. Thanks for all the help guys

Yank that Cat of the exhaust (if that is what you mean by Cali emissions in your sig). That will help some. Big exhaust will help. Swiss cheese your air box to get a little more air. Aftermarket air filter setup probably won't do much. Oh, and get a huge turbo, that will help.

yeah cats gone and the airbox is swiss cheesed, maybe i just need to get used to the temps running a big tune. How do you like your jegs 5" i have been looking at them, price seems to be pretty good!

Yeah I really like it. It is not overly loud, and it bolted right up. Putting it in was way easier than taking the factory one off. Less that $400 shipped. You can't beat it.
