So here i am reading all the goods about EFIlive and i have no idea how to get started. I'm not new to this board or to diesels but VERY new to EFIlive.
1. What do i need and where do i get it
2. What must i do when i get it to use it
3. Is there places to go to download "tunes" so i won't screw my truck up by tuning it myself
4. Can i change between tunes fairly easliy
I could probably go on all day but lets start there thanks guys

There are 2 components -
1. Download our free software - see my sig for LBZ software. This will allow you to get a feel for what is required before you commit to a purchase - you can do everything with this software except save tune changes and flash your truck.
2. Purchase our hardware to connect to your truck - it's this equipment that converts your vehicle's ECM data to PC format data and vice versa. There are many vendors you can purchase this from who are Diesel Place vendors. Check out the stickies at the top of the EFILive sub forum, the FAQ listing contains a list of DP vendors.

You'll need FlashScan V2 for $749 to tune your 06.

Install software (if not already installed), download and install the USB drivers, key in your license activation and connect up FlashScan to your vehicle and PC. You can then download your tune existing, start data logging and commence on the path to tuning your vehicle

Most vendors throw in a tow tune to get you started - you can view the changes made and commence to make small changes to see the impact on your vehicle. You can also download tunes from the Diesel Place Tune Library, however you do this at your own risk.

We don't have a switchable tune for LBZ (or 06 LLY) to change tunes your going to need to pull over and reflash your ECM. Many users have been able to develop all round tunes that limit the need to change their tune.

yes when you buy the V2 you recieve 2 licenses to tune 2 trucks. (yours and a buddies) If you want to tune more than 2 trucks you just have to buy another license for $99.

FlashScan V2 ships with 2 ECM licenses. When you use an ECM license a TCM license becomes available free of charge. That means you can tune any supported TCM - it doesn't have to be the TCM in your truck. Effectively this means you can tune 2 ECMs and 2 TCMs on up to 4 different vehicles with your initial purchase.

V2 has the capacity to hold 221 licenses, so once you've used the 2 it's shipped with, you can purchase single licenses as needed to meet your tuning needs - great if a buddy just wants tire size and speed limiter changes.

You should note that at this stage we don't support the Allison Transmission in the LBZ - this will be investigated a later stage - so in your situation we are just talking ECM tuning, which will leave 1 ECM and 2 TCM slots available to tune other vehicles.

Cheers

Ya that would be nice. I am stilling looking for that book. but if you look at the tunes in the library and compare them with your stock tune then make little steps you can figure out what not to do. :D sorry i am not much help but i don't know anything either.

There is help here if you need it.
