To be patentable, it must offer some new method or feature that's not obvious to someone skilled in the field. The physical dimensions, thread size, etc, would not be patentable unless there is a specific advantage to them and nobody had thought of it before. ...

Does anyone know what the patent number for the Racor filter is? Is it 6328883 by chance?
