Just replaced my harmonic balancer, front crank seal, and pulley.

Thought everything was solid until I tried to start the engine. I checked underneath and found the harmonic balancer made contact with the oil pan and timing cover. Plus the crank pulley is out of alignment (also too close to timing cover).

It was torqued to 200 ft/lbs. What went wrong... and how do I fix it?

Welcome.
There are 2 different HB part numbers.
One for the electronically injected engine with a reluctor timing sprocket,
and another for the mechanically injected engine.
The difference is the length of the snout on the HB.
What engine do you have and what part number HB did you get?

It was the Dorman 594-037.

It's for a '96 C3500. Pretty sure that's electronically injected

594-037 is the pulley.
What HB part number did you get?
Does your engine have a throttle cable?

No CPS and a timing indicator bracket, looks like a mechanical engine.

Great advice from everyone that chimed in.There are indeed two different balancers available depending if it’s mechanical or electronically controlled.

Even then I’ve seen a few different situations out there where a DB2 was used but the crankshaft sprocket for DS4 was still present. This is the case though only when doing conversions from DS4 to DB2.
