Hi Guys can anyone help me out im trying to figure out what this electrical box is for.

The box is located on top of the fuse box.

Yeah i don't think the factory would just leave it there.
i wonder if it a programmer of some sort.

this is a 2008 Duramax i want to buy it but need to know this is first

Looks like some type of programmer.

it looks like a Edge power chip. if i remember you select the power level by turning the key on and stepping on the throttle 1,2,or 3 times
