anybody near,us2 at i65,south of crown point

I just got the dreaded,''12 miles to 4mph,
stopped at a gmc dealer and they couldn't force a regen

codes are #1 def tank heater circuit open,
they want $250 to put in 2 thermostats ,then $800 to put in a DEF tank [that GM warrenty'd,last year]

I think if I can use a ''tech2 scanner'',i could do it and make it to a buddys shop at Rockford,il.,and put in a DEF tank ,if need be

anybody near here?

I got a motel,so if I could fix/clear things sat morning,i could be gone

this should only take 30mins-1 hour

I think if I can get into the ''glow plug controller and cycle the reactant heater circuits,i can ''kill'' the limp-mode and at least drive it an other 200-300 miles

so and mac-snapon diagnostic tool might do it too

any thoughts?

Just had def heater repl'd under warranty, error code dtcp21dd, open circuit, gm has kit that includes sensor, kit contains reductant heater and level sensor assy, this is a no charge fix, seems these fail across Chevy and gmc platforms

UPDATE

well it needs to go to the dealer wed
codes
p20b9
p21dd

both redactant tank heater codes

the 4mph limit on dash is a ''tamper-code/fault'',IT CAN BE RESET ONLY WITH A ''TECH2/MDI'' scanner,

the partial reset is
1.in redactant tree, you need to ck for pressure/leaks
2.completely fill def tank, and reset level too 100%
3.go into ''glow plug module'' ,and turn on all 3 heaters ,1 at a time for 10 secs
4.clear any codes

my def/redactant tank and heater were replaced last year under warrenty ,,now it needs to go back in wed to see if they can do it again
I think the def fluid is so corrosive its killing the heater element and wiring

this 4mph thing is pure GOV crap,if it happened on the hwy you would be dead

im so sick of us trying to save the planet, this is just EPA/Obama crap,,

So those of use who live in warm climates will never know if our def heater is bad unless we travel north in the winter? Does the computer ever test it or you'll only know that it is bad when commanded on and it doesn't work?

I just had mine done in N Alabama. Was throwing the P21DD. The local dealer replaced the heater assembly. Light came on, went off for a day then never went off til I got it fixed. I'm not sure what temp that its supposed to keep it at though.

I was told that the system checks itself at 40f. If it passes, the permanent code goes away. My code did go away at the first cold snap after dealer replaced the def tank unit.
