My check engine light came on yesterday... Once again... Need to clean my MAF, sensor with cleaner...

So I have cleaned that, and my K & N...

Well before I cleaned it, I had a buddy at a shop reset the computer to get that code off...

Well before I got home to do the clean... It came back on...

Now clean... How do I reset...

I read on here disconnect negatives for 10 min... did that didnt work...

I thought there was some key switch combo that would work...

Need help... Leave in 1hr for 3hrs one way, then come back for 3 hrs... Dont want to stare at that light, much less, if it puts me in limp mode... Doubt it but, just in case...

You need a scanner. There is no other way.

I thought that a certain # of key cycles would clear it?
The light should eventually go away but you likely won't get it to go off by just sitting there and cycling the key. The code will still be there but the light might go off.

Try starting the truck 10 times. Each time turning it right back off. Leave the drivers side door open while you do this.

Bag man may be right, but it's worth a try.

If that doesn't work, you can buy an OBDII scanner for around $100. Before I bought my scanner, I took the truck to Autozone. They read the code and cleared it for me at no charge. Depending on what state you live in, Autozone still offers the free "check engine" light check.

I figure it will just go off... But I hate that it is on..

Damn K & N... I guess I dont clean it enough or just need to loose it for something else.

Autozone sometimes will clear it, something to do with people selling vehicles with their help of clearing codes or something, I heard that from an Autozone in Texas, first time I heard of it.

Most will clear the codes for you though.

With the start cycles, I believe the truck actually has to warm up and show cool down between starts for the cycle to count towards clearing. x2 on the stop by autozone to clear it with their scanner.

Loose the K&N, they have been known to cause MAF sensor problems from the oil. The stock filter is the best.

If you need to get the light off quick you can just cycle the key until it goes off.

It will store the code but at least you won't have to look at it.
