I found that I had a fuel leak last weekend, while filling up. After getting under the truck to inspect, I found fuel dripping off of the bellhousing. Tracing the leak back up on the engine, I found fuel dripping from here:
Fuel line Auto part Tire Metal

You can see in the picture where the oil cooler lines attach to the block. There is a "port" above the oil cooler lines, from where the fuel is dripping. This appears to be some type of weep hole for the engine valley. Can anyone confirm this? I do see some wet areas underneath the fuel filter housing, but cannot see leakage at any of the fuel lines...? How likely is it that the WIF sensor/ fuel heater in the bottom of the filter housing is leaking?

Thanks for all of your help in advance...

I believe that is the drain for the engine valley...

I had the same problem, had an injector line come loose from the pump. Sucked pulling the intake off just to get to it.

Yes, that is the drain from the engine valley.

Prolly the fuel lines, but could be the WIF or fuel heater. You might have to clean real good for another inspection with a mirror, if you still cant find the leak prolly better just pull the intake and jumper the fuel pump relay and look for a leak.

On mine, My leaks have always been fuel lines, my hoses were brittle and leaked at the fittings.

This post kinda made me chuckle as i have been chasing the identical problem for two weeks. Very aggravating, it turned out to be leaking from the bottom of the fuel filter housing somewhere. I was peed off i just replaced the whole thing. End of problem.

Well, I am going to pull the intake manifold off next week and replace all visible fuel hoses (already had the water drain hose crack) and inspect the bottom of the fuel filter housing.

Thanks to all for the information...

Water in Fuel sensor

I'm new to this board so this may be a little late. Might help someone down the road. On my 6.5 TD I had the same exact problem and it ended up that seal for the water in fuel sensor had gotten too brittle and diesel was leaking from that. I just took it off (make sure engine is cool), resealed it with RTV sealant, put it back on and haven't had a problem since.

Fixed!!!!!

I have installed new fuel hoses (30R9 specification for bio-diesel) under the manifold. While removing the fuel cannister to attach the new hoses, I noticed fuel dripping off the fuel heater wires. After completely removing the fuel cannister, I deemed the gasket "bad". I obtained a new fuel heater gasket (GM Part# 12511962) and proceeded to install it. While removing the fuel heater, fuel ran out of the heater and down the wires!!!!

Fast forward 4 days and one new fuel heater later, THE LEAK IS FIXED!!!!

The Stanadyne part number for the fuel heater (with gasket) is: 31341P

Be vigilant when changing the heater gasket (if you believe that is the cause of your leak), as there may be more to it than that...

Regards,
