I have owned this vehicle for just one year next month and I have 15,000 miles on it. It runs just fine, tows just fine and I get good diesel mileage, (18.5 city and 22 highway...combined is usually 20). I know that I read about a lot of problems especially the injector issue but the vehicle still runs fine. I put 6 onces of Stanadyne in the fuel which I did with my Dodge Cummins, and I have Racor pre-filter on order from Lubrication Specialists to be installed by my Chevy Dealer, but my vehicle still runs fine. I probably will jinx myself, but, hey, what the heck. I like the vehicle. It is much quicker out of the box than the Dodge (2001 HO 6 speed), tows very well, the transmission is the best automatic that I have ever had. Anybody else satisfied with their vehicle and is it performing up to your expectations?

Regards,

Ed

Just a follow up note: we have 32 respondants on this thread and over a 1000 views. It would be interesting to see if the other 1000 views have satisfactory performance from their Duramax investment.

I have an 2001, and mine runs Excellent, even with the mods I have done. I ran the Truck hard when I first installed my Juice. But since have kept it down to a reasonable and prudent speed. I am just shy of 30,000 miles, and plan on keeping it till I turn at least 200,000 miles more. Like most all new Dmax owners, I was wondering What did I get myself into after reading all the stuff about the injector's issues. But, like I have read and have seen in other post on the site. The injector issues are few. When something is Good, most people are just content, and don't really express the Good. But when something goes wrong, thats when they say something.
So for know I am Happy with My Dmax, thats my thoughts.

Yep, I agree. You know it's a good vehicle when most of the owner's get excited about how well their truck performs. When you think about it, it's like getting excited about the performance of a garden tractor. My truck was bought for a pretty utilitarion purpose, Tow and haul. It more than meets my needs with the added benefit of hauling serious butt when it needs to. A bonus in my book.

Plus, it's way nicer than my garden tractor.

2004 cc sb 2wd d/m alli. I love this truck! only 5200 miles so far, changed rear fluid today. Didnt look bad at all, put Mobil 1 in it as I have had great luck with there stuff. 19mpg around town, 21highway.Only mod is banks 4" monster exhaust mostly to get rid of egt's, But beinng a street rodder I was looking for a little tone too. Sounds real good. Stanadyne p/f every tank. Transfer flow 50 gallon tank on order, have some out west towing to do and its a long ride from Jersey.

I have a 2003 with 21000 miles. Just over a year old. Best rig I have ever owned. Have the steering rattle and they replace the box that makes the 4x4 need service light come on. Pull a 10,000# trailer. Best tranny made......mileage is almost 11 pulling and almost 20 when not. It is comfortable. I really like my truck.

Only mod. is a transferflow fuel tank (30 gal x bed) Plan on installing an aux. filter.

Over all I am very pleased with my truck. It has some cheapness to it that bothers me because it was so expensive, like the paint, shocks, speakers, interior plastic parts and tires. But beyond those things it's a good rig. The performance is totally beyond my expectation for a diesel pickup. Slowly over time I will change some things that I don't like. Right now I have 4 new speakers on order, (6.5 inch Infinity Reference). And soon I would like to bolt on some Bilstiens. And then eventually I will put on some decent rubber. For the time being I would definately say that the glass is half full, (OK maybe 3/4 full)

Lovin my 03. It is 16 months old and has just over 18,000 trouble free miles. We tow a 10,000lb 5er with ease. Hasn't seen the dealer since I took delivery, except for a free oil change. Best truck I have ever owned, most dependable as well, it's a keeper!!

Amen everyone... our trucks don't look as big and mean as say the furds and durdges, but they pack the most punch in my opinion... while at work the other day there was a durdge CTD pulling out of a parking lot and it sounded so loud I thought it was pulling 25000#'s through a quarter mile run, then I looked and realized it was SLOWLY pulling out of the parking lot...

Ditto. You always ONLY hear the bad.

Even if the sentence has all good information, the bad word will be the only one that you remember.

Everytime I am in selling mode(see a guy at the truck stop, rest area, campsites, etc), I always put the good foot forward....There is no bad information to tell anyway!

Later.

I had the check 4wd light come on and some problems with the remote door locks and passenger window lift. All fixed in one trip to the dealer. Never a problem with the engine. At just a tick under 28,000 mi. it runs as smoothly as a turbine. I originally bought it to tow, never dreaming that it would become my all time favorite vehicle. The engine is stock and will stay that way for maximum longevity, but I'm going to put either a freer muffler or Banks on it to lower EGTs under load. Everything else will be done to make it last longer. I already have one of Nick's filters, next will be an Oilguard. I guess after reading Spicer's preliminary test results the UNI will go back in the box and I'll get another paper airfilter. Oh, well. I like the idea of a lifetime, reusable filter, but until the manufacturers come up with a product that lives up to their Bull Spoilage, I'll keep killing trees.

TSCKEY: Put that Banks on you will love it! I dont have a cat but still bought a cat back system. All I wanted to do was change out muffler anyway, so I left that 3-31/2 foot piece where cat would be in and went 4' and monster muffler from there on.Saved a few bucks. Tone is GREAT> Buy the way its a lb7, and i run stanadyne p/f every tankEdited by: BRUCE

Only have 4000 miles on mine, but have a 5000 mi tow coming up in May. No problems at all so far. I installed a Nicktane filter kit at 1300 miles and also use Standyne. Hope this keeps the fuel system in good shape for a long time.

Have 40,000 miles on my 2002, and it runs great. The forums had me scared to death about injectors, but talked to 3 dealers in area and they haven't seen a bad one yet. So as an old song says, don't worry-be happy.
Getting over 21 MPG on highway, and the truck rides better than most cars.
