Also what kinda mileage can i expect around town and highway? I might be trading the 05 Chevy for an 06 Dodge due to mileage and other problems. Thanks

I am getting around 15.5 right now, but the truck has 1500 miles on it and has never pulled anything. I also let it idle in the morning to warm up which doesn't help fuel mileage. That is mixed driving, don't have any definate highway numbers yet....

I bought mine 600 miles away from home and got just under 20mpg @ 80mph on the roadtrip back.

I calculated my 4th tank of fuel (1st tank 100% my typical driving urban stop and go commute 35 miles each way) @ 18mpg

I have a work truck that does not have DIC so the numbers are done by hand.

I am pretty happy with that.

My last truck was an 03 6.0 gasser that avg. a little less than 15mpg

I think I must drive like an old fart. Rarley do I see 2000 RPMs. I really conditioned myself to conservative throttle application driving the 03.

Started at 14.1 hwy 180 mile trip home and after about 600 miles started towing 17' trailer 7500# 14.8 mpg , 25' gooseneck 16k 35 mph headwind 9.2 trip back empty 11.7, getting around 16-17 on hwy empty .I now have 2600 miles (in 4 weeks). This truck is getting better mileage right off the lot, much better than my LLy. It will pulled my gooseneck and is getting 3.5 mpg better doing it.

I started out around 14.5 mpg combined city highway. I,ve seen 17 + just highway. I only have 2000 miles so far, but the combined has crept up to 15.1 so hopefully it will keep climbing.

1998-2005, 1 6.5 and 3 6.6s the 2005 lly the biggest piece of crap I have owned, the others Awesome trucks. BUT the 2005 lost my loyalty. I picked up my 06 Cummins yesterday, 1 day of driving and i cant say enough about it, and it as quiet if not more than the Duramax. Does anyone know if EDGE can reprogram any of the chevy stuff for the Dodge. If not for sale or trade .

my 05 with G56 six speed 3.73 gets high teens low 20s, is you can keep your rpms below 2K you will get better economy. I can get better when I am not on the highway because the economy starts to fall off over 2200 rpms. I have not towed the trailer yet with it.

Not really. The 06's I have are pretty close. My Dodge averages about .5-1 mpg better on average so far. But my Chevy is a dually so that could be the difference.

Are the Dodge trucks that much more fuel efficient than the Chevys?
IMO the 06 "Z" D/A is much improved at least over the 04 we had before. Power of the 06 "Z" at 17K very similar to 06 CTD with 3K. Mileage towing similar loads so far the CTD came out 10-15% better. According to the display it has averaged 12.9 over the 17K with less than 10% towing and most of the rest I cruising at 75-80mph.
