Had the mechanic that's replacing my clutch tell me the 6.5 wasn't any good and I was one of the few to have as 260,000 miles or more on the truck.

I know we have had threads like this before but don't remember one that actually recorded numbers. Lets see if we can get some numbers on lifespan.

If you have multiple trucks you can enter more than one choice.

some one took this pole not long ago but for the record 411,285 miles and still burning rubber. I haul a 5x8 inclosed trailer full of framing tools everyday and nothing has ever survived me till this truck, I burn 350 gas up like they were fat lighter.

Had 278,000 when the crank broke in July. Turned 297,000 today. 19,000 on the International reman longblock since the middle of July. I'm thinking if I had caught the sheared key on the balancer, the old engine would still be running.
Trans was rebuilt @ 165,000. Probably on third IP although I probably took a good one off chasing another problem, turned out to be broke intake valve spring.
A 6.5 can rack up the miles if you keep a good eye and ear on them.

248,800 as of today. original trans as well. i hate it when people say things like that. i have a friend that keeps saying i'm the only chevy person he has ever known to get alot of miles out of a chevy auto transmission, when in fact chevy has some of the best trannys out there. I think its just jealousy or something

Just over 560 000km's. Original motor was pulled at 518 000km's for a knock that turned out to be 2 fuel lines crossed at the IP. '95 at work has around the same (560 000) and it's the original engine, never been opened.

158k, got it with 108k on it. Had it five years. This is the longest I've ever owned a vehicle, and the most mileage I've ever put on my own vehicle (not counting company trucks) I usually would keep a vehicle between 6 months and a year, longest prior to this one was 3 yrs 35k. I guess that says something about this truck. I've owned around 33 vehicles, 26 of which were Chevy or GMC trucks. This has been the only diesel dually, I've beat it like a red-headed stepchild and it keeps coming back for more.
Like someone else said, if it can stand up to me, it's gotta be a good truck.

just for S&Gs
26 GMC or Chevys
18 4x4s
2 Jeeps
2 Camaros
2 66 Impalas
2 Pontiacs
1 Plymouth
1 Acura
1 IH Scout II
1 Chevette (go ahead and laugh)
NO FORDS ( I won't count the Ranger I had for a week because I never registered it)
