2007 2500 HD Diesel LT3........

When should I take this truck to the shop for the first time? My truck is brand new and only has 1,013 miles on it. Also, what fluids, etc... should I request to have changed. My filters on the computer show a remaining like of 87% on one and 91% on the other. Can't remember which is which. I want this truck to last forever......so let me know how to take the best care of it. NO OVER KILL.........Just good/responsible maintenance. Thanks.

I believe Eric from Merchant Automotive has a comprehensive maintenance schedule for the D/A posted here on dieselplace. Just do a search on it.

Read the owner's manual. The only thing it does not tell you to do that is required, is the Allison spin on filter at 5000. Get the fiilter from Allison, it'll be about $7 - $8...be around $35 from GM.

$125 is that just a External filter change? If it is, yes that is a rip off!!! It took me like 10 mins to change the filter! I paid $8.50 at the local allison dealer!

You can buy oem ACDelco's and oem Allison filters from vendors on this site, as www.gmdieseltech.com, for a good and cheaper price and give them to the dealer to use. You will save that way...

That's GM's maintenance schedule. The Allison site will tell you to change the spin on at 5000, then, like GM, change the fluid/filter at 25k.

I just had the fuel filter done for the first time at 13 000km. I had the Allison spin on changed also, I asked if it was supposed to be done at 5000 km, she said better late than never. I also switched to Amsoil 15w40 syn. So far so good. Just my 1 cent.
