I will be taking possession of the below beast which is a 97 C6500 with the cat motor and Eaton 6 speed trans. Only 93k miles also. Anyway, is there a front end that I can swap up to so it had a more modern look to it. The bed looks just like a 3500 series dually bed and want something a little more "new" looking for the front also. Any websites that I can go to? Thanks, in advance. Brendan

Did you try Google to see if anything comes up? Also check with our supporting vendors and see if they might be able to help.

You should be able to ask this question in the Exterior section to see what comes up.

First things first, Get rid of those Fugly rearview mirrors!:D
Not only can you improve the looks drastically, but aren't those old tripod type mirrors known for forming rust wherever they are attached to the doors...:(

Agree, get some nice mirrors, the ones on new trucks woudlnt look bad. I dont think yoru gonna get much different as far as a hood/grille, dont know of any made for that series of truck aftermarket. Is a very nice truck, what will you use it for? I dont think if I retracted my gooseneck hitch all the way I coudl get under it or it put the butt on the ground. What do you use it for. Id get it as a daily driver if i could afford the fuel or ins. Does it have air brakes?

I say to hell with modern, that truck looks MEAN! Keep it the way it is! Is it 4x4? What size cat motor? Darn, I didn't even know those trucks exsisted! I don't want to start a flame war, but will it tow better than a new light duty diesel? AGAIN, WHAT A GREAT TRUCK!

I have gone through 2 transmission and am on my third since obtaining my 39 foot toy hauler. You can see by my sig that I have an F350 with pretty much all the options. Maybe my Ford was telling me something. Anyway, since I want to upgrade to a bigger 5th wheel down the road like a Santek, I might as well get a truck to pull it. I found this with and it has a 3116 Cat in it with 93k on the motor. Test drove it and fell in love with it. Pull your house off of its foundation. It is not a 4x4 but looks like it. Has air brakes, fast idle switch, 3000 watt inverter, dual batteries, air bags, on board air compressor with nipples to the rear of the truck. Plus, I get a 22k hitch thrown into the deal.

Make sure you watch the injector cups on that motor (they were notorious. for having problems), you will either get diesel in your antifreeze or antifreeze in yoru diesel. Not godo either way.

Please expand on this. Is there something that needs to be changed on a regular basis or what should I be watching for?

You need to keep on eye on either low antifreeze or high antifreeze. If you have excessivly high antifreeze levels (ie puke tank is alot fuller then you remember or alot lower, your injector cups are probably leaking. They were known for it. Also, youll see the diesel float on the antifreeze (puke tank) if ti gets bad enough.

My 96 started to run alittle rough just before the caps went. Not real bad but you could tell it had something wrong..kind of like a gas motor with 1 plug wire off.

Here's the newer version, I am thinking the front end and mirrors could be swappable.
