What would make my turbo louder? I know an exhaust would, but what about an intake, if so what would be the best and where to get it from? Thanks

If you are talking about the stock turbo you're not going to make it that much louder without changing out the turbo itself. Many think an AFE intake makes them louder but for me the increase was minimal ...nothing to justify the cost of the intake. If you want true turbo noise, put on a bigger turbo or add another one (twins). BTW, I've had 4 different exhausts and think I have tried at least 3-4 different intake setups. I finally got more turbo noise by adding a BD turbo, but for a price :) Just my 2 cents.

An intake will not come even close to making it sound as loud as with a bigger/extra turbo. I guess it all depends on "how" much louder you are wanting. Loudness is very subjective. I'm an ex-Navy sonar tech so I like to think I have good ears :)

I have to agree with Tophog. I tried it all as well, and nothing makes it that much louder. Go with another turbo and you will see what we mean. Good luck in your search however.

With a new turbo, do you have to replace the head studs? I have an LB7, 118,000 miles, triple dog, 4in exhaust, intake. What about the trans? Thanks!!

If you are just adding a normal gated charger, you might not need studs. Lots of guys are running 35-40PSI on stock studs. And if it's a gated charger, you can turn down the peak boost.

You can perhaps run an aftermarket charger with just a tow tune and stay within your transmission limits.

Lot of work to make it whistle though.

Some should work on an exhaust whistle that sounds like a Peterbuilt.

My truck sounds like a jet engine when I crank it up. :D

Very noticable difference on my LB7. I installed a AEM Brute Force with Dryflow Filter (Oil Free) Intake System.:thumb:
