I had a small leak in the radiator of my 82 Jimmy. Last week it stopped leaking, but I still have to add about a 1/2 gal on coolant every 2 weeks. It's never over heated and I don't see any coolant in my oil. Any ideas where to look? Thanks.

If the heater core was leaking you would smell it in the cab.

the early 6.2s had a problem leaking at the head gasket where the head meets the block. They leak to the outside. Use a mirror to inspect the area where the head meets the block. If it does leak and you repair it there is a update put out by gm. When you have your heads checked the machine shop can install the update to stop the leak from happening again.

Also check all the radiator hoses, heater hoses, water pump, crossover pipe, thermostat housing, freeze plugs, etc... The simple stuff first. Don't ignore the radiator because it may still be leaking a bit. They don't usually just stop leaking for no reason.

After you check all that you can start worrying about the head gaskets, but until you're absolutely certain that nothing else is leaking I wouldn't worry about them...
