I didn't see an off road section, so here...Here's my thought, I got a 78 3/4 ton with tired 350, sm465, np205, dana 44, and 14 bolt and no lift-yet... Looking to fit 38's under it and wondering if I ought to just trim them fenders to keep 'er low and mean. Anyone else done this? how large a tire/lift combo does a guy need? How wide a trie/wheel? Looking to make it a mud masher not a street streaker. Any help?

the tired 350 will hold ya back more than anything, 38's are alot of tire to turn without proper gearing.
6" suspension and a 3" body lift will clear 38x13.50 swampers.

If you shop around you may find a 3/4 ton with the 250 six, these trucks came with 4.56's so all you will have to do is swap axles instead of new gears, 4.56's will turn your 38's fine. You can rebiuld that motor cheaply too, punch it out, do some head work and a good clutch and you will be ready to be stuck with everyone else. I would look into 39.5" boggers if you are just going to off road it in the mud, chromoly axles, upgrade your u-joints or install a dana-60.:driver:
