How much If any blow by is acceptable coming out of the oil fill and especially the dipstick tube?!

This is usually caused by worn rings, but could be caused by cracked piston(s) or even a bad head gasket.

Doing a compression test will give you a little better idea of what is going on. You should see 400 psi.

How does a bad head gasket cause excessive blow by?
