LLY has a variable vane turbo (VVT). Some of the LLYs have problems with overheating. LB7s have had problems with their injectors and has a fixed vane turbo. LLYs tend to get a little worse fuel economy than the LB7s. I'm not an expert, but for the most part, the people that had a LB7 and traded in on a LLY wish they didn't. Either way, there are little problems with both. I have no complaints with my LB7 though.
