If you get EFI-Live Peanut I'll send you a copy of my stock 2002 LB7 file, I have a friends truck running the 2002 O.S. conversion in Michigan and he has had all his prior 2001 problems go away.

The truck has no more ghost pedal issues and rolls out past 110 without issue......

If you need the 2002 stock fille sent to you just contact me.

So us guys with the 01's can overcome this problem by using DSP2 or flash with on 02 OS?
That would be:cool2:

Yes, but you need a Commercial Version to reflash to a different OS or to the DSP2 OS.

So my best advice would be to update it and then you can take advantage of all the cool feature that are going to be available.

A personal license will limit you on the FULL REFLASHES.

'02 O/S on an '01 PCM???

Tony,

Sorry to throw this at you but am I correct in understanding I can do a

full reflash on my '01 pcm with a '02 operating system file & it won't let the smoke out of it, that would be awsome?!!!:ro)

Thanks, Todd.:)

I took a 2003 LB7 ECM and loaded my 2002 stock O.S. into it and then re-entered the 2001 Trucks VIN# and it is working flawlessly.

I have been told that as long as the hardware number is the same it will work.

I am actually going to reflash a 2001 ECM with a 2002 O.S. later today so I will let you know how it goes.

Thanks & some advice.

Thanks for the quick reply, I too have done exactly that, the '02 O/S will work on an '02-'04 LB7 pcm in an '01 truck, however I would not recommend using an '02 O/S on an '01 PCM, it think their is a compatability issue...possibily catastrophic:bawl: . I believe only '01 O/S's can be used in '01 PCM's. Ross, Steve, or Lyndon will likely know, worth checking into first I think.

Thanks, Todd.:)

My 2002 O.S. is 15186006

I am going to flash it now..........

Stand By.......

***UPDATE*****

Full Flash of a 2002 OS to a 2001 ECM.

2001 ECM Hardware #9355100 -Original O.S. #15188873 Calibration #15063375

Flashed to :

2002 ECM O.S. #15186006 Calibration #15166858

Read the File back and compared to my 2002 Stock File and it matches 100%.

I will load my VIN # into tomorrow and swap it out and make sure it works

If so then all 2001 ECM's will probably be able to be full flashed without issue.........

Great news.

Tony, man you got bigger ones than I:eek:, congratulations. I wouldn't attempt that without first getting feedback from the gurus, but hey, it's done now, hope it won't be an issue for the rest of us, I would really like to have someone "in the know" chime in with their input on this procedure & the potential risks if any.:ro)

Tony,

Did you go Stealth into NY to test that OS change. Didn't see you on radar

I think the 01's have 15063376 and 15097100 OS. Not sure if there is a 3rd? The 15097100 OS over laps with the 02's.
Do all 01's have problems with Removing The Limiter or is it specific to the OS?

What was the OS on the ECM you just changed?

I had some advice from EFI-Live Guru Ross.........:ro)

I would caution anyone else from doing this until I can swap it into my truck and put some miles on it.

If it works then you 2001 owners with a commercial upgrade can convert your ECM's.

I can provide the 2002 OS Files, I beleive since mine is a 48 State one that it would be better, but I do have a 2002 CA emmisions one as well.

It's only an ECM........):h ):h ):h

See a post just above from me.

There are Three 2001 O.S's and three 2002 O.S.'s

I have a suspicion that the reason is the CA emissions and NE Emissions are different and then a 48 STATE one.

The Calibrations seem to be specific to final destination/delivery.

I would not want to guess what GM was doing, but if this works on my truck then you 2001 guys will at least have options.

There is a very early 2001 O.S '09393838'. I think this is the one used in the ECM that has a different Hardware Number to nearly every other LB7 ECM.
I do not have one of the early ECM's here to test with so I could never verify the compatibility problem.
We have however updated other 2001 ECM's (on the bench) to 2002/3/4 without a hitch (there is some tricks to doing that without killing everything :HiHi: )
I said to Tony if the ECM goes off in space I have a replacement one here to send over.

Cheers,
Ross

If the calibration history is like this from GM.

15188873 N/A New software to correct false setting of DTCS P0116 and P0181.

15097100 N/A New software to improve generic scan tool operation

15063376 N/A New calibration to address driveability and emissions compliance issues

9393838 N/A Operating system

For a vehicle vin #. Does this meen that it started with 9393838 and has been updated to 15097100, which is the current OS for the Vin # and could be updated to 15188873 by a GM dealer?

I'm just looking at the GM vehicle calibration history for the Vin # and trying to understand it.

Then how will DSP2 be able to get around this for the 01's that might have this old 9393838 #?

Yes, that 'wonderful' website (thanks GM) is telling you that your ECM will have one of those 4 O.S's installed.
How does DSP2 get around that.....it doesn't.
We have had to modify every Duramax O.S that GM released to DSP2.
When released you will need to chose the correct one based on what your truck has.
Sure it would have been nice to say 'you must use this one' but there are other issues in doing that.

The listing on the GM site is basically the update order.
So 9393838 was the first, then 15063376, then 15097100 and finally 15188873. Notice how a ECM running 9393838 can be updated to 15188873 which is an O.S used on 2002 trucks.

Cheers,
Ross
