Well its that time of year again. The birds are singing and the days are getting warmer. You know what that means...?? Time to work on the trucks.

I'm working on my '88 GMC Jimmy

Today's question has to do with my injector pump. It leaks diesel fuel and also sucks air.
I believe it is in the throttle shaft seal, and the Turbo guys also suggested the advance plunger seal could be leaking.
I am planning on removing the pump from the truck. And I would like to know if anyone has any experience working on these pumps. I'd like to do this myself if possible.
It looks like I can buy a seal kit from Mylex on ebay for around $30. Is that a worthwhile kit to buy? And how bad are those seals to change?

Well I'm gonna get back at it, gotta get the tranny out to change the flex plate.

Dido, that I have been seeing intermittent little puddles of fuel that I traced through the valley down through the weep hole coming out of the TC cover looks like a wet throttle shaft on the pump.

Sorry that I am no help, just started looking for advice and found your post.

If someone can find the thread with pictures about changing the seals, I'll put it in the FAQ's.

Im not as well versed in this stuff as some on here ,but mine was leaking so I took it apart and the seals are O-rings , so I put 2 new ones in and it was good, IDK for how long.

Well we are moving in the right direction at least. I'm still in the process of changing out my flex plate, starter and motor mounts. So we have some time to find the info on the pump.

I was pretty sure that cursing wasn't allowed on DP.
