Before I get started with my post and people start questioning my knowledge. I know and understand the duramax motor and the up keep it takes to keep these trucks running in top order. Between my dad and I we have owned 6 duramaxs over the last several years. I traded my 03 LB7 in may to avoid the very common injector issues and bought and 07 classic. Early this week my truck developed a terrible miss on my way home from work. And when i look in my mirror there was a large about of while smoke coming from my truck. I have seen this from two of our LB7 we previously owned and new right away what had happen but didn't want to believe it. I called the dealer and dropped my truck off the following morning. Recived the phone call from the dealer today. Number 5 and number 8 injectors bad at 17,000. Anyone else having any of the same problem or heard of anyone? I treat every tank with treatment and the truck has had 3 fuel filter changes since I have bought it. Anything can or should have done different to avoid this again?

We have all seen very few LBZ injector issues. My fingers are crossed for you that you just happened to be the guy who got the bad ones in the batch. Don't sweat it so bad until other problems show up.

I work at a dealer and can tell you there is no known issues with the lbz's injectors, its a odd deal to have 2 go out. The only ones we have replaced have had a MAJOR amount of water in the tank(kids dumped it in) forget about it and enjoy the truck!!

Why 3 fuel filters in 17,000 miles? I do one every 13-15k... I'm at 50,000 and have never used anything other than whatever comes out of the Diesel pump.

It sounds like you need to start buying fuel somewhere else if this is a common issue with your trucks?

I knew this isn't a know problem just wondered if anyone had Any advise. Yeah 3 filters I Changed the first one with the first oil change, Didn't need to but I did, the second at 15,000 and the third when the motor developed a hesitation the day before the the injectors went out.

there is two issues that you will see posted on the net with smoke on a LBZ motor the first and most common is the EGR sticking and it blows blue/wht smke after idleing once in a while. Mines done it maybe 10 times not a issue if it happends. The other smoke issue is gray smoke while on the power hard , again normal. I really would want to know why your truck needed injectors , its not a common problem since the LLY motor came out in 2005 1/2. the lly had wireing issues that where called " injector problems" but very few needed injectors. If its fixed dont give it a second thought but I would find a differnt dealer for service work , I dont think they told you the truth......

I returned the truck back to the dealer I bought it from, They told me injectors 5 and 8 were stuck wide open should have more info on balance rates ect. tomorrow when I talk with the dealer again. Thanks for your input.

Wow I'd want my pistons checked out if they were stuck wide open, not to mention a possible hydrolock upon start up.

I questioned the pistons also when I talked with the dealer. Our first lb7 had a major melt down when an injector stuck open, ended up doing a total rebuild. Hope it doesn't come down to this with the LBZ. We will be keeping a close eye on this for sure.

we have a heavy duty mechanic that baught an LBZ dually, that when pulling his sleds to the mountains lost 5 injectors at the same time, prior to doing this he had very poor mileage about 12 mpg on the hiway empty, on his way to vegas for the baja races he lost 3 more and had to limp to a dealer for new injectors. He is now a duramax hater, and I have lost none after 65,000 km. So now all he does is ***** about them and I am sick of him. But that is one mans story and he sticks to it.

Some truck crap out. Not is perfect..Let him buy somthing else, Then watch you pass him going up hills.

45000 kms and I just lost a couple injectors as well. at the dealer right now waiting on parts, Wednesday before I get her back, WFO never seemed like anything wrong but hard starting and would barely idle

have 07 crew,long bed ,4x4. week ago Sat. started vibr. bad.took to dealer mon. #5 bad injector.Picked up Tue. eveing Wed. all over again.#2 bad injector. Dealer call this eveing said test drive problem again. #4&#3
bad . what is up with this. Dealer is lost.

i have to bing my truck in also , more than likly injectors #s 2 & 4 are throwing a misfire code sometimes.

i think they have more injector problems than we would like to think

The dealer had the scanner hooked when all the noise was happening, it said everything was ok no problem. I have never heard a engine make this much noise and not come apart.

Lbz won't start

I had the same problem with my lbz, it had a really rough idle and it would spit out white/blue smoke when you give it the gas and now the truck doesn't run at all. Don't know what to do, can't check fuel pressure or injector balence rates when the truck won't start. Checked all fuel lines for kinks and changed the fuel filter, fuel filter had a good bit of trash and water in it btw. Any help would be appreciated.
