At startup my lb7 is briefly blowing white smoke. Is this a sign the injectors are going? the truck has 89000 miles on it and i have had zero problems.

I just got my injectors replaced (under the new 200,000, 7year warranty) and my truck was smoking at startup and when idling, also there was a ticking noise all the time, it sounded like an exhaust leak.
The only real way to tell is to have your balance rates checked with a programmer or at your local dealer. They can also do a flow return rate check, but I believe that this takes more time and will cost more.
If you have a way to check your balance rates, anything over +/- 4 in park or anything over +/- 6 in drive is bad.

I've got the same thing; '04 LB7 with less than 1,000 miles on brand new injectors- it put out some white smoke for the first few minutes when I started it today (engine cold, hadn't been run in a couple days). I think its normal.

I too believe it's because of the weather with mine. I had my injectors replaces maybe 20K ago. This is the first winter with my exhaust on my truck and I notice some smoking at first, but I tihnk it's actually just steam that collected inside the exhaust over the night. Hell I live in florida and it's real humid here I got scared it was my injectors again but couldn't smell anything but exhaust behind when it was smoking. Plus my oil is fine.

Het adam,

How is the waterpump install?
Did we get it right?
I was going to do the Transfercase, but the lift is busted where I am going to do it, so I am waiting for it to get repaired. If it is this weekend, you want to help?

depends how cold and how quick it goes away and that its not the condensation or steam burning out. When mine was cold it would smoke very briefly then clean up. I would be concered though if it was 60* and she was actually smoking(not steam etc)

Thanks! I think I am going to have it checked, although I have been thinking very hard about a new one. We'll see. Thanks again.

Injectors

After they changed my injectors mine was doing the same thing and it end up being a cracked injector sleeve. I had to add coolant a couple times in about 3 days.
