Does anyone have experience using KREX Graphite Lubricant specifically in the 6.6 Duramax engine? The GMC dealer I bought my 04' GMC 2500HD CC D/A adds this product as a standard during scheduled maintenance intervals @ 3K miles. The product is only available through new car dealer networks per the company data listed in the link below.

Before I add this to my truck, I'm trying to find information or maybe a user or two who can offer experience with this type of lubrication product.

The manual says not to add anytype of additive to the motor oil!

No engine oil additive of any kind should be used in our Duramax engines. Period. And yes, the use of any engine oil additive can void warranty. Gosh it is convenient for your dealer to be putting an automatic warranty void into your engine! Great guy..
It would most likely never get to the 'warranty void' point, obviously, since your dealer is installing. However, I would suggest you indicate to the dealer that the additive should not be used in your vehicle and point out the 'warranty voiding' aspects to him/her.

Not good.

Back in the late 70's Army engrs came to our base (airforce) directing disposal of graphited lubricants. They cancelled the milspec and disposed of stock. Seems that graphite is erosive to some types of cast iron. I recall a poster commenting on the period that his oil filter was very heavy when he changed it ~ even optioned that it was a load of graphite ~ didn't reallize that was part of his engine eroding away
I'm very surprised it is still around ~ perhaps they worked out the formulations but I plan to stay 30ft away from any such lube. Don't want to take a chance with this expensive truck. In fact, thats one of the main reasons I avoided Mobil 1 all these yrs because initially it was a graphited oil. Learned recently thru these forums that its no longer the case.

My advice would be; Don't take a chance

On edit: do a search on thedieslepage. This very thing has came up before where a dealer was tossing this stuff in as part of the service.Edited by: ShumDit
