just bought an 04 lly with 26000 on it but noticed it had a 2006 donaldson air cleaner on it. is this a problem? anything else i should worry about?

could if of potentially caused damage to anything? and what would i tell the dealer about the situation?

Well its tough to say. Here's an option for you. Run your vin here in the vin check thread in the main page. That'll give you a complete list if everything your truck's been through since it's conception. It's very detailed.

If you dont plan on towing anything, or light loads, it may just be the truck for you. On the other hand, there are indeed fixes for this problem with parts such as a V2 radiator and an aftermarket tranny cooler. We have vendors here who sell them and pretty much offer a complete kit for around a grand if I'm not mistaken.

i plan on pulling my 74 chev wheeler on a flatbed, and my quads and thats probably about it. now how bad does these overheat? is it the motor or the tranny. to the point of no return?

Sounds like it is too late for a return:( . Buy the V2 and be done with it. The reason for the 06 air box is because the pryor owner complained of overheating. That is the ONLY reason Gm would put it on.

who makes the v2 and where is the best place to find it. and i have a gm extended warranty i got with it. help any bit?

Silly lillys....those trucks are pretty hit or miss...some guys have never had a problem...some guys have had nothing but problems with overheating...good luck to you

Well i got my vin checked to see what has been done, and it had:l1197 - sensor, fuel level (tank unit) - replace / j7709 - service kit, revised 90 degree injector harness connectors j5919 - module, direct fuel injection driver (diesel) - replace j4430 - capacitor and/or module j7910 - wiring harness, distributor - repl j7910 - air cleaner system (chevrolet)

and J5650 - INJECTOR, FUEL - REPLACE. but doesnt say anything about overheating. any ideas?

just because it has the 06 cai does not mean it was an over heater..i suggested it to my service manger,and they put an 06 cai on mine,it has never over heated..i pull a 10,000/11,000 lb 34' fifth wheel..maybe thru research you could talk to the 1st owner and get more info.. ..joncar..
