I've got a 99 K3500 that I recently got at auction. 176K miles. Shifts great, fluid looks a little old, so I'm going to drain and change the filter. No "flush".

Anyway should I stick with the older Dex III or is there a benefit to upgrading to a full synthetic, knowing it will be a mix because I'm not doing a full "flush".

Thoughts?

Best,

NH

Don't "upgrade" to Dex 6 in the older ones. It's an old topic and if you search around you'll find stories of the Dex 6 casuing issues with non-Viton seals.

I would stick to the older fluid. You don't want to mix synthetic with the old..
