Have you ever owned a dodge before? I get so fed up with people claiming dodge cant build a truck anymore! Just to fill you in the new dodge (gen 3) is just as good if not better then gm! If you have no experience with the new dodge and only speak of the past i think it is time to STFU! Flame all you want some **** gets old.

From my understanding some of the new Mega cabs are having the door glass break, and both quad and Mega cabs can suffer from driveline shake on take off. Also I think newer Dodges still suffer from death wobble and front end problems with the ball joints which from my understanding has been an issue with the Dodge trucks for some time. I don't mean this as an attack on Dodge trucks, it just seems they tend to have the same type of problems for a longer period of time before addressing the issues. D'Maxes have their problems but it seems to me that they make design changes faster. GM went from LB7 to LLY to LBZ which now seems to be mostly problem free, and the LLM is here with the only real difference from the LBZ is the DPF. Lets be honest most Dodge guys dislike the D'max especially over at the Diesel truck resource and call it Japanese crap or Maxipad... but yet consider Toyota made in Japan as a marvel of engineering. I never really understood trying to insult someone else for making a different choice but to each his own. My point is I don't think the dodge truck is the greatest thing since sliced bread, like some brand loyal people would have you believe. I think if you get a good truck reguardless of make then I would be willing to bet they are all on a pretty level playing field with purchase decisions going more to personal preference then any thing else. Then again I have no brand loyalty but what do I know.

I can argue any point you made but it seems pointless to do because you and i know that argument goes both ways. But, let me formaly appologize for getting pissed when Censored:blahblah: and claim dodge cannot build a truck. Gee, i wonder who gm has been competing with besides ford in the truck market.

Inline, no need to apologize, I used to post over at Diesel resource and would say stuff to counter some of the statements like the 2003 Dodge with the 305/555 Cummins out pulls the new GM LBZ, and that the Dodge makes more rear wheel torque. I stated simply that when Edmunds tested the two trucks together that Dodge was a little slower to top of the hill then the GM and that was with the newer more powerful 325/610, so I don't really understand how the lesser horsepower Cummins truck of 305/555 would be a better hauler or faster then the GM. Well you would have though I insulted someones MOM. I got the test means nothing it's real world tests that matter, a real truck can only be inline design look at tractor trailers. The test was biased because when you add REAL weight to the Cummins that's when it pulls...... I think you get my point. You always get people that have had either a real bad experience with something who never let it go, or the band wagon idiot mentality. I agree with you with the constant if dodge could only build a truck around it comment, I have owned several Dodges and to be fair had several problems with them but still like them and am positive not all of them have problems. We looked and test drove them before buying the GM. The decision was made based on the quad cab was too small for my son who weighs 190lbs and the Mega cab was out because you can see we camp, so I was uncomfortable with the short bed and too lazy for a slider hitch. If Dodge makes the Mega with a long bed, like the after market guy does I would own one. As for my LBZ to this point in time it has been perfect with no problems at all and pulls realy well. Does it annoy me when people call it crap or say it won't last, Yea but like Ron White says.......

True everybody has their reasons why they have what they do and why they bought it. I personally hAVE NO PROBELRM WITH THE DMAX BUT THE 6.0 SCARES ME. i HAVE A FRIEND THATS FAMILY Has had problemsand i see them firsthand so it is hard to justify one. But nothing gets me more jacked then those statements. If you have experience then fine but if you just jumped on the bandwagon because it is the cool thing to do then i think you really have no place to talk.

sorry about the damn caps. lol

I agree, don't really consider fords based more on their lack of business tactics. I remeber the law suites over the Pinto and the boy who was burned. They still haven't really changed their policy much when it comes to putting peoples safety first or should I say last.

Well i think cummins has a good friend @ Dodge Since they keep that Cummins even though DCX owns Detroit and Mercedes. All the Freightliner Salesman I tried to buy a Freightliner from with Cummins power goes out of their way to Discredit the Cummins in there trucks. The 6.7 is a good engine from what i have ran them in Case and Agco Tractors Its 1 of those Fruits of the European Engine Alliance that Cummins has with Iveco, Case, Newholland. As Far as comparing V8 Diesels to Inlines its like comparing apples to oranges not a real good way to sit and test them since it 2 totally different trains of thought. It says somthing about how well V8s are doing cause cummins would not be comming out with a V6 and V8 otherwise. I think V8s have come a long ways since the days of the 3208s, VT 555,903 and those perkins diesels

Have you ever owned anything other than a Dodge? Or are you just a young guy with his first Diesel and it happens to be a Dodge? Why is it Dodge only guys are so insecure about their trucks they have to come over here and cause trouble? I used to consider myself a Mopar guy. My first car was a 68 Road Runner. I had a 79 W200 and a 91 Ramcharger, both awesome trucks. I bought a 95 Ram 2500 Cummins 5 speed brand new. Cummins was awesome, truck was a nightmare and the Dodge dealer network was as unorganized as you can get. Then my wife's 98 Grand Cherokee was another p.o.s. and I gave up on Chrysler. They can't build a truck anymore. Good design and theory but, cheap material.

Ive owned 3 Dodge diesels; a 98 24valve (15,000 miles), 03 305/555 (11000 miles), and currently an 06 (14000 miles). No problems with the trucks at all. Also owned a 99 Dodge V-10 (10000 miles), 99 Ford V-10 (7000 miles), 98 Chev 454 (25000 miles), 2000 Chev 454 (8000 miles). 03 Chev Duramax (15000 miles). Now Ford diesels; 95 powerstroke (28000 miles), 97 powerstroke (11000 miles), 2000 powerstroke (50000 miles). All trucks were 1 ton duallys. Only truck out of all of them to give me severe problems was the 99 Dodge V-10...all mechanical problems. The very best pulling truck of them all is the current 06 Dodge Cummins. I put 25-30k on the ball of this truck regularly...

Ok... so here's the scoop.. I have owned all three and the Dodges were the least favorable of them all. The '97 was a good truck but went through brake pads on the front like crazy and after about 50k miles the interior started to fall apart and rattle. The '05 was a good one as well (in regards to the motor) but had the transmission go out at 21k miles. The dealer replaced it under warranty and said that it was incorrect from the factory. Other things that I don't care for is how fast they start to rust out around here, the paper thin sheetmetal that dents easily, and the front ends that constantly need to be rebuilt.

The Fords that I have owned have all been 7.3 powered and the normal things went bad with them... Ball joints every 80k miles, a CPS once in a while, and on the '02 we had to replace the vacuum lines to the automatic hubs.

The Chevy's biggest problem for me has been the NSBU switches on the side of the Allison that gets moisture in it and fails... I count on replacing them once a year. My '01 has 184k miles and other than routine maintenance hasn't needed a thing and still looks like new.. no complaints with any of them other than I wish GM would move that NSBU switch to a better location where it wasn't getting all the slush and snow thrown on it constantly.
