On the road and instrument panel lights do not come on?? any suggestions

If all other lights are working it wouldn't be the fuse.....probably the light switch itself. Have you had the dash trim(around the cluster) out recently?

its the switch, i went through many of them on my old 94 doing that same thing if you put too much load on them, your tail lights go out at the same time as well

update

ok when i arm the alarm the lights work and all other lights work when i turn on the switch they do not work and no i have not had the dash apart recently. they worked this after noon but the problem is i am in the process of driving to South Carolina from Los Angeles and it sux not having lights at night to see the gauges and the speed can roll the diall and the interior lights all work this is just weird

IIRC, check the cigaretter lighter fuse first. There was someone with that problem that this was the solution, cigaretter lighter fuse was out.

ok sorry this got posted three times dad is over zealous some times and is using my page to find answers while i am on the road i informed him not to post the same thing but to update the original message as i did last night when i got to the hotel and i think it is the switch as every thing else works right and the cig lighter works the dvd player is plugged into it as well as the gps and i know it is not more than a 3 amp draw total
