Considering trading my '02 duramax. I'm looking at either an 07 classic lbz or 07 cummins. I have a couple questions. Has GM solved the injector problems and has Dodge improved their automatic trans.? Thanks for any replies!

07's have the 5yr/100,000 mile warranty(powertrain) so I wouldnt' worry too much....also whole different animal with the lbz(external injectors).

exteral injectors are not always the answer. I had a 2004.5 with major problems. One of the first one of the line. Bosch says some of the first ones had problems with the lly. LBZ seam to have to the problems solved.

Thanks again for the replies, I had an 01 cummins prior to the lb7. I like the GMC much better (except for the injector problems). That being said. I'm really struggling with the idea of spending 40-50k on a truck that I already know will have injector trouble whether it is warrantied or not. I would hope GM would have corrected this by now (6 years later) and maybe they have.

I dont think there are many injector problems w/the new ones. I wouldnt be the first one on the market to try one of them aisin things. From my understanding completly over seas built trans and all parts come from overseas so who knows how long parts will take and how expensive. I can pretty much pull into any truck shop and have my ally worked on (put in some 4300 trucks, some school busses (smaller ones).

MONDEY:
I'm in the same boat with 'ya.

I drove an '06 2500 Cummins with the 6speed manual, and did not like how it responded. I have not drove the Dodge auto, but from the posts on the Dodge forums, it's not a good unit. That and it's only a 4 speed.

I drove an '06 LBZ and the difference was dramatic. I've never owned a diesel, and the LBZ drove like a big gasser engine! Quiet, smooth and powerfull.

I liked the Ford Superduty, but, again, the forums all complain about the Powerstroke coming apart. No thanks!

I'm zeroing in on a couple of leftover '06 GMC LBZ's. Someday soon I hope! That and hopefully Howard can get a GMS certificate for me!

Good Luck!

Traded my '02 Duramax in on the '07 Duramax a few weeks ago. Had a hard time letting the '02 go, as it was the best ride I had ever had. But, I now have a new best ride ever. The improvements made since the '02 model are for the best. Power, 6 speed Allison(only way to tell if it is shifting is to watch tac), quiter that '02, and my dually even rides better than the 2500HD I let go of. Time will tell if it is as good as the '02, as I had no problems with it. But as for now, I am very happy with the '07.

I drove all three diesels before I chose the LBZ. The Ford wandered all over the road. The dodge Mega Cab rode like an empty box car and the Chevy was well, a Chevy. You have to remember, you are looking at two different generations of trucks. I love mine!:D

Unless you're a fortune teller, you do not know you will have injector problems. After 12K miles now,I don't and most here on DP don't either. You can wake up tomorrow with hemorrhoids that you never had.{Would'nt that be a pain in the a**?}Nothing is absolute--you're looking at the best truck/engine combo--best warranty in the business. It's a no-brainer--buy the truck!!!

Haulin Rv, I believe is at about 200,000 miles on stock injectors. I think 200,000 miles is pretty good considering the amount of pressure they see and the amount of times they open and close. Originally people were under the impression that dirt was the main cause of failure. I think that is why GM redesigned the fuel filter with a double pleat design. If that is the case adding an additional prefilter would be cheap insurance, and should keep you running fine. Also all new diesels are HPCR systems and should all be prone to similar type problems.
