My alldata.com information is sketchy on injection pump information.

I will be installing my injection pump soon after my long block installation(Hopefully this weekend). Since I don't have a scanner, is there a position I can initially install the injection pump so I can drive it somewhere for final timing adjustment?

Yes,just have the injection pump positioned as vertically as possible.Upon the pump you'll see a tall cylinder type component with two wires coming out of it.Position the pump so that component is as vertical as possible and that'll get you in the ballpark.

Scribe a line across the IP flange and the origninal timing cover, as close to center dimension between the two nuts as possible.

Pull the IP, lay a scale on the two studs, get that dimension, lay the scale on the two studs on the new timing cover, tansfer that dimension to the new timing cover with a scribe.

Install the IP, line up the marks, and you're good to go.

Oops, too late for that. I pulled the IP and timing cover from the old engine without scribing any lines. I thought since I was getting a new long block and IP that the marks wouldn't mean anything. Lessons learned...

The method sugg by Dieselolds is workable, and will get you well within the ballpark, as mentioned.
