I’m up north near Cadillac on vacation for the weekend. Driving back to camp, went down a terribly bumpy dirt road and developed a sound coming from the drivers side rear wheel, thinking maybe a pebble got stuck.
Pull over and find fragments of what looks like brake pad material falling out.
i just did a complete brake job six months ago.
Luckily I have a friend in Cadillac, waiting on a tow truck now to pull it to his house. Never had anything like this happen before... gotta be brake pad though, nothing else I can think of. Hopefully there’s an auto parts store open tomorrow or later tonight.

Perhaps the bracket bolts weren't torqued to 144lbft, and the caliper tilted out.
I've seen it more prevalent on Fords, but it happens on GMs too.

Rotor fell apart. Never seen anything like it.
