Have any of you had and problems or heard of any with the Allison from this tuner. By problems I mean slipping, limping, or any long term issues?? I have this Hypertech and I am back and forth with level 2 or 3. I find that level 3 on my truck shifts much nicer and is more like the stock setting than level 2. Plus the power difference is pretty signifiagant. I'm a little worried that the extra 150 ftlbs or so of torque might be to much and might create a problem. Plus I do tow intermediate weights fairly regularly (5000-9000 lbs) and was wondering if the extra power going thru the tranny with the load of the trailer weight on it will screw anything up. Anyones input would help me just set this thing, leave it alone, and enjoy driving it even more than I do now.

I ran my 04.5 LLY on Hypertech level 3 for about 60,000 miles. I never had a problem, it never generated excessive egt's.

I also pulled about 9000 lbs all over the east coast. Hypertech is pretty much designed for towing. Thats why I liked it.

Hypertech isnt going to fry anything. It just dosent lay down enough power to really do a whole lotta damage. There are much hotter tuners out on the market. I was 100% content with mine.

I put 55000 miles on my 03 running the hypertech on level 3 , 0 issues. My dad runs the same setup pulling his 8000 pounds trailer on his 04 for 60,000 miles, 0 issues. Currently i have 28,000 miles on my 05, HT level 3, 0 issues So i think its not the sexiest tuner out there, but your not going to tear things up either. Put her on 3 and forget aboud it!

How did that happen?
Good question????:drop_mout

All I know is that the fuel lines were full of metal. I could tell he hammered on his truck, because he needed tires in 4,000 miles!

The first day I installed his hypertech, he took off down the street and lit all 4 tires up, with a cloud of black smoke behind!:D

Wow.

He must have had a Frankenstein of a Hypertech (or some major stacking going on), because the ones that I have seen could not throw anywhere close to that kind of power.

I just purchased a Hypertech and want to run it on level 3. The truck is used mainly to tow my 5th wheel which weighs about 14K loaded, but it's also a weekend driver if I'm not towing.

I was wondering if it will hurt my truck to run it on level 3 towing a 14K 5th wheel or should I run it on level 2?

I pulled about 9000 lbs out of my 04.5 LLY on level 3 and never had temps over 1200 degrees. Hypertech is pretty much designed for towing performance. You'll love the added power.

Go for it! You'll like level 3 better than 2 just for overall driveability. :D

650 stock but the internals have been strengthened.
I don't understand. If it's only rated for 650, and the LBZ produced 650, then wouldn't the tranny need to be beefed up with any power modifications done to the truck.

Im towing a 10,000 lb weekend warrior and I have a Hypertech and run it on stage 2. Can i run stage 3 without blowing anything up.
Yes, but there are factors. Like dont lug the motor, that will produce higher temps, keep it above 2000 rpm. 2500 is the sweet spot, (lowest egts)
