Hi Guys.
Thanks for your help. I have towed with our 2006 LBZ Dually our 10K 5th wheel with Hypertec on level 2 up steep grades and never had a problem. Egts were below 1200. Has any one had a problem towing with Hypertec on level 3 with egts, or limping trannie with LBZ? Planning on taking a trip with some steep long grades and was wondering if I should try towing on level 3.
Thanks Ron:)

I have towed up to 14k of salt on a flatbed trailer at speeds up to 70 mph and no issues. Hypertech has been stuck on level three for over 4 months now and no issues other than lack of rubber on tires. It is a great tune for the money. And it puts out more power than what they say, atleast on my truck.

I had the HT on my 04 LB7 and did not see much in the way of improved MPG. It did tow on level 3 without exessive EGT. On my 06 LBZ I am running DS Predator on 85HP setting but I run water injection to keep EGT safe. I get about 3MPG better with that setting. What MPG improvement do you get with the HT on your LBZ? I get 20MPG HWY and 12 to 13 towing with the DS. This is about what I got with the 04 GMC reg. cab 2500 4x4 and the HT on level 3 which was about 1 MPG improve over stock. (DS on 120 I get EGR codes some times and always high EGT's even w/ water inj.)

So far the best MPG i have seen since hypertech was 19.2 and that was about 70/30 hwy/city. I have made three trips down to FL and was around 14.5 the first with about 8k on a trailer, right around 16 the second time with only 5k on the trailer and got 17ish with a bed completely full and a make shift box that was 10" taller than my cab, little bit of drag. all those trips were made with cruise set at 75. Around the city i generally get about 15 but since its been cold and I let the truck get warm before leaving and usually sleep in my truck during the week on my lunch break it has alot of idle time and low MPG. I was at 12.2 last fill up with very cold temps and long idle time.

bronson: My expereience with limp mode was there was a noticible reduction in engine power follwed by the tranny not letting me out of 3rd gear.

I have limped my tranny three times with the hypertech on lvl. 3. Mostly just driving around. First time I was running a powerstroke down the highway and it limped coming out of 5th. Everytime since it has happened at little easier, but always on the 5-4 shift. So i would be careful with WOT 4-5 or 5-4 it definately can cause damage.

I Wonder if their is a difference between Lbz 6 speed and 05 & 04 5 speeds? Has anyone limped trans with Hypertec with a six speed lbz? Just wondering.
Thanks Ron:)
