If you had $2000.00 to spend on fresh truck. Where would that money be spent performance wise?

Add about $3,000 more and maybe you'd get a decent trans. I'd say EFI live. Seems like a great investment. Of course, don't forget a cold air intake & exhaust.

Build your transmission first. When you start adding power it will be the weak link in the chain. Once you are done with that and you have another $2K then look into EFI or "said" tuner of your choice depending on what you want your truck to do. I would also look into exhaust, finger stick and blocker plate and gauges. Good luck

Given that as a spending limit...

Transgo Jr
Triple disc
PPE Hot 2

Depending on where you shop, you could just squeak in at $2k. This would require you doing the converter and transgo yourselves.

How far do you want to go with this truck and what do you want to do with it daily?

PPE wont run well on a stock fuel system truck if set to kill. Probably need lift pumps as a minimum.

Gauges and exhaust may be high on my list......also a blocker plate for the EGR.

Figure out what you want the truck to do first as you can spend lots of money and not end up where you want to be. Once you decide what it is you want we can better tell you how to spend the money you have so you do not have to do it twice.

What I want it to do

Deisel Tech:

This is my daily driver, so I don't want to loose reliability, I don't kill it off of every light. I can't afford the insurance or fines for that.. or the tires.

1. I tow a 35ft toyhauler fifth wheel in the summer in the mountains, so I guess I would like to maximise power for that.

2. When you have a kid in an import or Mustang beside you a nice roll on blow off would be cool.

3. Maximise efficiency, Although this isn't all that important to me. As really don't pay that much attention to fuel prices as there is nothing I can do about it anyway. If I was all that worried about it I guess I would be driving a Tercel, VW TDI or Smart (dumb)car. Although These option would probably have a hard time pullling the 5'er.

Maxy:

I've seen your posts.....I think you will be spending a LOT more greens than i'm willing to part with.....But I think we are asking questions at the right place.

McRat:

I have read a lot of your posts and I think you know what you are talking about so bring it on....The PPE sounds like a nice unit although it seems to me tell me if I'm wrong, that they are hit and miss when loaded to the LBZ.

Sitting at light and changing from say a tow or 85 tune to a 120 plus kill tune would be pretty neat when that Mustang shows up. But you can't do that with the PPE, I believe. But then would it matter if you drove your truck like an old farmer with the hot tune installed. (no offense to anybody, figure of speech:D )
