Without removing the pitman arm is there a way to tell if it is a 3 grove or 4 grove . Like to order the new HD Problem solver MOOG Pitman arm but i have to figure out weather it is a 3 grove or 4 grove before ordering

Well it would help to know just a little more about the vehicle your working on.
Like the year and series of your truck would be a good start.

Sorry forgot 2006 Chevy Silverado 2500HD (LBZ) 4x4 ext cab 8' bed
( I believe the groves or spilines are inside the pitman arm sleeve and are not exposed without removing the old pitman are , which means it becomes undrivable until the new part is there to replace it.

A 1 5/16" wrench and pull the nut off the pitman arm and you can easily tell which you have. You won't have to pull it off, just stare at it and count, and then, of course, put the nut back on. And I'm pretty sure the 2500HD/3500's use the 3 groove.

Ramblinrodney is correct. You will need a 3 groove for your 2006 2500HD.

Thanks , now I'm having a hard time finding the new Heavy Duty MOOG
pitman arm # K6536HD
and Idler arm # K6535HD
Googled and it wasn't very hard the first place that popped up has them
$58.79 and $77.79

I just rebuilt my front end on my 2007 2500HD with the ultimate 2 kit from the Dmax store along with a new Redhead steering gear and Kryptonite tie rods. The Dmax store carries the Moog HD stuff.

Rambling those are prices for the stock parts not the HD , when searching they usually drop the HD off the end and substitute the regular part
Those are the actual prices for the HD's W/O shipping.
