I searched and searched but couldn't find anything. I have a 1993 6.5L 3500, auto trans and 4wd. The previous owner (a friend of mine) stripped out the oil drain. He installed some kind of self tapping plug from Pep Boys but it leaks.

I would like to install a new (or nice, used) oil pan. Will I need to remove any other major components or need to lift the engine?

Thanks!

PS. Please see my intro below :)

I would try another plug solution before changing the oil pan.

To change the oil pan, your better off lowering the front axle. You don't need to lift the engine.Changing the oil pan is very easy to do.I did this on a 97' 6.5 1/2 ton 4X4 pickup. The CV joints stay in place. All you need to do is remove the two inside bolts that keeps the axle bolted to the frame and on the driver side remove the two bolts that goes through the rubber bushings. That'll drop the axle a few inches and it'll give you enough space to sneak the oil pan out of there. Also loosen your front driveshaft and swing it out of the way. Then your all ready to tackle the oil pan.

While your at it,drop in a dime sized magnet into the sump of your new oil pan before you install it.Your engine will thank you for it.:)
