So I've been looking at trucks to buy and pulling the oil filler tube cap and watching. Most all of the trucks have at least some wisps of vapor coming out.

Does anyone have no smoke or vapor at all? Is some to be expected on a 200,000 mile high compression diesel engine? What have others noticed?

a little blow-by seems to be the norm on just about all 6.5's, unless its a brand new engine then you shouldnt have any...as long as its not billowing out of every crevess possible and as long as it doesnt smell like sour oil, i wouldnt be that scared..

wisps of vapor are fine. It's when it looks like a choo choo train that you start to worry
