I have access to a trans flush machine that i can use for free. I see alot of talk on here about taking off the line and doing it that way but what about actually just using a machine?

Is it advisable to still pan drop?

Should i use the machine or go the other way?

Not a good idea to flush with a machine. Go the other way, Hoot method or drain and re-fill...

I had my wife take mine in to have the tranny and transfer case drained and refilled. The Chevy dealership would not drain and refill. They would only flush it. They also said that they flush the tranny and transfer case at the same time. Are they connected? Unfortunately, I don't have time to go all over looking for someone to do it. I needed it done for the drive from Florida to Alaska. If someone could tell me if the transmission and transfer case are connected (fluidly) that would be great. Thanks!

Not connected but do use the same fluid. Dexron III unless you go to a synthetic, it's fine in both too. Drain and refill should be adequate on both with new trans filter. Depends on your mileage which you didn't mention. I've never flushed on any automatic I've ever owned. No problems either. T case is a little hard to get positioned just right with funnel for refill.

flushing the trans gets all the dirty fluid never had a problem doing it and it is not messy at all take alot of fluid though to get it clean i cant even think why a trans flush machine would hurt a trans?when dropping the pan or draining it you only get some of the fluid not all flushing it gets it all.the convertor holds alot of fluidthat does not drain out.just my .02cents it might even be .01 not sure

I called the dealer back for the 3rd time and talked to a service tech who told me they weren't connected.

Located in two different locations and not connected in any way, fluidly.

How the heck do you 'flush' a T-case, other than drain/refill? Again?

I'm certain somebody will come up with a machine to flush it, lot of money to be made...

There's nothing wrong with flushing the tranny fluid, if you haven't changed the filter in a while I would do that as well. The biggest problem with Auto's is worn & burnt fluid that has lost it's abiltiy to lubricate and protect the internal tranny circuits

I also have access to a tranny flush machine and have done all my vehicles for the last 10 years including my daily driver Astro with 310,000kms and still original tranny, and my 87 GN which has 107,000kms and 1,260+ 1/4 mile passes and still original tranny.

Both above vehicles also have a big trans cooler (heat is also the trans ememy) and Trans-go valve body shift improver kits.

My Dmax is now 3 years old & 40,000kms and I have flushed the fluid twice, changed the filter 4 times (filter at 5,10,20,40) and fluid at 20,40 I use this truck for towing 90% off the time, so need the tranny to last as long as I can make it.

I do the tranny fluid flush on a very regular basis so the need to change the filter is every second or third time.

I flush mine at 30,000 miles intervals, done my last 3 truck never had a problem. The flash machine I use is a SnapOn, Hooks in at the tanny line. One side for new fluid other where the old come out. Start it up let it run, so you can see the difference in color of fluids.

The transfer case has to have synthic only

My dealer, Tracy Chevrolet, will only use Bilstein flush system and then pull the pan and replace the filter.

My dealership said the screw on filter for the allison is the only filter that needs changed regularly. the pan filter ONLY needs to be changed during a rebuild.

Do you guys agree with this?

Yes, and to change the fluid when the mileage interval is reached...
