guys, I've got the old filter off, but cannot get the new one tight enough to the head to get the threads to start....any tricks???

Ran into this several times, make sure the rubber seal from the centre of the old filter isnt still up on thi filter housing, i bet it is. you cant get the filter up if it is still on there. i use a small scredriver or seal pick to peel it off.

yep,,,,stupid is as stupid does....I was in such a hurry that I didn't even notice that it wasn't part of the filter!! just wasted about 20 minutes with a simple filter change. I know it seems dumb, but they should maybe consider editing the "do it yourself" to say that....I missed it, and there may be other guys out there that have also....

anyway, thanks for the help.

Been there done that, no matter how many blood vessels in your forehead or neck buldge out, that filter isnt getting on their with 2 gaskets.

How bout forgetting to put the new O-ring on after you had taken the old one off? :eek: :damnit1: :banghead:

you can add me to the list...oh ya...by the way you can fit the filter on while the old one is still there...just have to use a really friend named doug and about 6 beers...it happened trust me and then after about 1 hour of trying and he got it somewhat on ...then i noticed that the old one was still on.....here's your sign stupid..

Me too! I was thinking, wow no problems with removing the old, didn't even need a wrench, barely had to move the A/C line, lifted right out, didn't spill even a drop of diesel. Brilliant, I'm a freakin genius.

Of course then I tried to put to new filter on with old grommet still there.:damnit1: :damnit1: Oh well it only cost 20 minutes and I got to exercise my brain trying to figure it out.

It was YOUR fault. If you hadntof made me drink so much the night before I would have been just fine. :D
