Hello everybody! I just purchased a brand new 2006 Chevrolet Express with the LLY engine (only 19 miles on it at the test drive). I am a n00b to Duramax's but I have an 85 300TD Mercedes wagon (5 cyl Turbo) that got me hooked on Diesels. I do all of my own work on all of my vehicles (this is number 8), and have been wanting to get a full size diesel vehicle for some time now. I am very knowledgable about diesels and cars in general, and I subscribe to Diesel Power magizene (which I HIGHLY reccomend). I am going to pick it up tomorrow, I purchased on saturday, but had to get the free racks and cage installed. I am really excited about it, and cant wait to get it home. I am planning on adding a tach and boost gauge to it right away, and maybe some pinstriping to it, but other than that, it will remain pretty stock. I was pleasantly surprised to see that the van was intercooled. The Ford diesels vans are not. If anybody lives near Charleston,SC, one of the dealers has 5 or 6 more in stock, and they really want to get rid of them, they were shipped from the factory in 2005! It is pretty plain, roll up windows and regular door locks, and no radio (soon to be fixed), but it does have the nifty G80 locking rear diff, cruise and tilt wheel, and the tow package. I look forward to posting on this board.
I almost forgot, but a lady plowed into my BMW on Friday, and it might be totaled. If it is, I would like to get a nice 4wd GMC Sierra Duramax. Can a good example be had for under $20k, maybe $17k. 2001-2003, Let me know what you think. The van is just a work truck.
