I am probably moving to MD pretty soon and need some intel on the gun laws there.
I have been looking through the NRA for info but I am betting that I have not seen the "important" laws that would be good to know befor I make a move.

I have another thread on here about gun safes and plan on getting one soon. i just don't want to have to move the dang thing twice :D

Well, if it's not avoidable, which part of the state are you looking at? If I had it to do over again, I would probably NOT ( looking to move / build in Kentucky or Tennessee)
I am looking just north of DC. I work in Arlington VA and will have to drive through DC every day. :(

Reason for the move is the fiance' works up there and can't handle the drive, soo... it looks unavoidable.

The laws and Democrats in DC make it unbearable to live in DC so my only alternative is southern MD. I would just as soon stay where i am but you know how it is.
what exactly do you want to know?
Don't stop anywere in dc if your packing ,you''ll be screwed

Just want to know if there are any laws that would prohibit me having what I already have (hand guns, long guns, shot guns, nothing fully auto).

I don't really like the idea of having to register anything as that seems like an invasion of my privacy as a law abiding citizen. I am from AL and don't particularly like most of these crazy azz laws that are in this area. Even Northern VA is a geographical odity.

basically, is there anything I should watch out  for before moving up there.?
As long as you dont have a sawed off or something along those lines. If its registered to you, should be ok with everything. As any where need a class III for full auto. CCW permit is a nightmare to get. To buy more than one hand gun and certain rifles (mostly assult style) you need to wait 30 or 45 days between purchases or you can apply for gun collector and buy as much as you want.

Just transport smart, keeping ammo away from the guns and all that good stuff. I would probably carry any paper work for them on the move.
I live in southern Maryland I own guns you can carry them not loaded And you can Apply for a consealed weapons permit at the State police takes about 6 months to get

  Stay away from Montgomery County, almost every resident is a whack job of some sort: non-smoker, non-drinker, self appointed parking police, very liberal democrat, etc..........

To transport, lately they want to see; ammo locked in a separate part of the vehicle from the guns, bolts removed from the weapon and stored separately. No, these are not the "legal definitions", but when you get pulled over, sometimes it's just better to "play nice" and eliminate the headaches.
CCW is a pain to get.
