I got my PR Shim Kit and tool, LLY/LBZ Cutback, Allison Filter Loc and Suncoast 1057 and there are no instructions on what to do with stuff. Can someone help me here? How hard is this to put in? I would have thought that you would have got some kind of instructions.

First remove transmission. Then pickup a Transgo or Allison assemble book. It's not all that hard but a few pictures will make it much easier if you have never done it. The Pressure shim and cutback valve both go in the front pump assemble which requires you to remove the bellhouseing from the transmission. Once the bellhouseing is off remove the front pump assemble from the bellhouseing. Locate the pressure release valve and bolt the tool to the pump. You tighten the tool to take the pressure off the dowel pin holding the spring in place. The dowel pin is tapered so it only comes out one way and must go back the same. Remove the plug under the pin by lossen the tool, instal the shim and reassemble the pressure relief valve. Locate the converter flow valve in the assemble and remove it and then replace it with the new cutback valve. Then reassemble it to the bellhouseing and reinstall bellhouseing to the transmission. Be sure to check the inputshaft as you tirghen the bellhouseing up so you do not get anything into a bind. Put the new converter onto the transmission but make sure you cover the drive with a light grease and pour a quart of ATF into the converter before you install it and your on your way.

Have a good friend with a shop or I will have to get the tranny guy I know in Midolathian to help. Both have lifts and all the stuff. not doing it on my back, no way!

You might want to consider the clutches. I had mine out to do the Suncoast Stage IV after running the Edge, and my clutches had burn areas on them. I only had 1500 miles on my truck. Might save you a near future upgrade. I know you don't want to do it again. Good luck with it all!

JMO but go to the local allison dealer and ask em if you can get all the clutches and steels(c1-c4) and return what you dont use ;) That way your truck isnt down if you find a few that dont look perfect. At the price of em replacing a few wont break the bank. More than likely you will be fine but it wouldnt be a bad idea to be prepared. If you cant find a place that will take em back if you dont use em I would at least get enough too replace c3. Those will work in c3 and 4 and if anything is hurt at all it will probably be c3. I'd also get the milled spacer deal from TTS or suncoast so you can stick an extra stock clutch in the c3. For the price and the ease while its in there.....I wouldnt skimp. JMO

And then you can line up all your c3 and c4's while you inspect em :)

I have seen just as many burned Alto clutchs coming out of Allisons as I have OE clutches and they burn just the same. The trick is to get them before they burn and do the upgrades, but the truth is they all will burn sooner or later and noone has been able to stop it to date. The fact that the surface is burned some does not mean they will not work properly just that they have been slipped and gotten hot. I have used stock clutches at well over 600 RwHp and they hold up just fine.

Yeah the Tranny Guy I know here said he likes the factory clutchs too. He also said if you want to play you just need to freshen from time to time.
