I am finally going to a dragstrip with my Duramax I have been to the track many times with my classic mustang but never in a truck especially a diesel I know I should lower the front end I ordered the SD tierod sleeves and cognito braces today they will be here friday so I will have that. Any other suggestions what about weight saving what do you guys suggest spare, low fuel level, what else is the back seat hard to take out if its a pain I will just leave it in any suggestions are welcome. also what do you guys think my times should be? my sig is current and is how I will be going to the track.

do you plan on running the race tune on a stock trans? I was running just my tst and the trans really didnt like it but i still managed a 9.08 @74.6mph. If you are running it with the stock trans you atleast need to lock out 5th gear cause you dont want it shifting out of fourth! I took out the spare, but i heard its best to run atleast a half tank of fuel so the return doesnt heat it up so much and leave it idling in staging lanes i ran slower with less heat in the motor. As long as you have fun thats all the matters!

yeah I plan on running a modified version of it i did some tweaking to it so I doubt it will make 500hp. I talked to mcrat and he recomended I back down the fuel on the topend to help the trans shift fine so I should be good there. I will leave it running in the lanes and try the half a tank of fuel. what else guys

Spare, backseats (easy to take out),tailgate, you could make some clamps to help the launch. good launch 1.8xx I'd guess an 8.7-8.9.

Clamping the rear leaf springs stops wheel hop(bad) significantly which should helpl you get the power to the ground. It is essentially 2 bolts and 2 plates of metal that sandwich the overload spring to the spring pack stopping the hop. Check the link for pics.

FWIW...My 06lly ran 8.9 with a 1.95 60', with predator on 120, and 4" exhaust. I would think you would do a couple tenths lower. I wouldnt go through all that hassle of trying to take weight off. I doubt it would make a worthwile difference.

yeah I have been thinking about taking things out for weight savings, the more I think of it the less I want to do it the only things I can think of are the spare and back seat and really I doubt that will help that much when your talking a 7500 pound truck. does the axle hopp real bad when racing in 4x4 or should I not even worry about it.

still usually every 100lbs is about a tenth quicker!! FWIW my truck has severe wheel hop in 2wd but when i was at the track it really wasnt an issue in 4wd. I cut a 1.88 60 and it was still spinning, i think you will be fine. Mine went 9.0 with a 140 horse tune so you should get low to mid 8s if your tranny shifts good!! Lots of luck and have fun!

I just ran my truck tonight 60ft. 1.843 8.462 80.54mph full weight 3/4 tank just tried the clamped springs out as well for the 1st time(well worth it imo 20$ in parts). my previous best was 8.466 with low tank, no backseat, no tailgate, no clamped springs... It is all about the launch. If you can launch hard the clamped springs will help. good luck.

With our trucks, it's about 200-300lb per tenth. Not sure why. Cars are about 100 per tenth.
