I have recieved a request to include RPM and Fuel Rate readouts in the Injector Balance view. Looking back that is something that should have been there from day one, it just got missed :
While I'm in the process of making an update, is there any more obvious stuff that needs to get added to the application ASAP? The missing help file is one thing, anything else?

How about a 'store settings' and 'load settings'?

that is, be able to store data at a moment and load it back. This would provide one with a way to 'log' a snapshot of data. It would be most excellent if that could be imported into Microsoft Excell (tab delimited text file).

Guess what my first request of GMTD Scan Pro will be?

I was thinking maybe a facts file "where should it be".
Or Something like what you have in green " desired numbers like the rpm being 600 in green"

Maybe more on the dashboard view 9 or 12

just my just my opinion :)

just thinking out loud

This may be quite a request but I thought it would be pretty cool if you could record the data for a set period of time, so if you want to make a WOT run down the road for 15-20 seconds or something you go record all of your data through the RPM range and shift points to monitor fuel, boost, shift times, etc etc..

Recording and playback of datalogs is a GMTDScan Professional feature... if that's what you're after?

"where should it be"... I'm not sure I want to embark on that route. How about purchasing a Helm Inc service manual?

9 or 12 on the dashboard view... not sure about that one either. The more values viewed at once slows the application down as well as clutter things up. More readouts = Less updates per second.

Any timeframe for the OBD2 version?
Infinity :p:
I am not working on a OBD2 version, probably never will. There are allready plenty of software out there with support for the -96 up trucks.

I would like to see a snapshot of values categorized into 3 groups
  • Engine
  • Injection Pump
  • Transmission
That way, when someone has a problem with their engine, we could just say "Upload your snapshot and we will troubleshoot from there."
.
As an added benefit, it would become the universal standardized a report format used by all.

This isn't about the program. But, how about a cord that is 94-95 6.5 specific that does not have the toggle switches. That is the only aplication I would need the cord for when I buy the program. Might bring the cost of the cord down a bit.

The toggle switch only sends a different signal to the program, it has a setting for driving down the road, a normal setting for sitting in your driveway idling or reading codes, then it has a backup setting if neither of those work it doesnt have anything to do with make/model/year etc.. Im sure Swede can clarify and/or go into greater detail but thats the jist of it.

I have made the design of my cable as generic as possible. It can be used to interface to pretty much anything GM has put on the streets between the years 1982-1995. The switchable resistors have no function on a 94-95 6.5TD, that stuff is for gasoline engines.

Now that's what I call a good request... very useful and completely within the scope of the Tech version :)
I think I'll just do the Injector Balance view readout additions in this update and save your snapshot feature for later. It has to get thurougly tested first.

Correct me if I am wrong Steffin. But it is my understanding that the tech verson will be upgradable to the pro once pro is released.

How about a setting to have pins 4(DTR) and and 7(RTS) on the 9 pin serial put out +12v so we can use a self powered cable, or is that in the tech version?

Just a thought :)

There is no need for such a setting. DTR and RTS are enabled when opening a port. In both Tech and Basic. Self powered serial interfaces work just fine with GMTDScan!

A COM port does not output +12V. If you have assembled a self powered cable that does not work I'm guessing you're using the cheapest possible components you could find and did not bother to look up their characteristics. As a result you have to much voltage drop over your power supply curcuitry to drive a MAX232.
