Picked up my new dually the other day and think that is an awesome truck. It's the "beancounting" by GM on the little things that has me a little ticked off though. Things ommitted that my 02 Z71 came with ....footwell lights, round to flat pin adapter for towing utility trailer, coat hooks...thinner carpet or is it my imagination??,,,,my 02 Silverado didn't have the rear passenger audio control but on my LT3 Dually it does, and even came without the headsets for the passengers to use it. Am I leaving anything out??........again love the truck but think that when you spend these big bucks..$40,000.00+ it's the little things that count. Thanks for letting me vent!!:cussing:

Ya you would think since LT3 is their ''TOP OF THE LINE" you would have the kitchen sink too. Their is alot of little things my wife's Grand Cherokee has the my truck doesn't. Kinda of makes you think about that old saying "You get what you pay for!" but you don't get it.

Made in Michigan

Not to add fuel to the fire but aren't the 3500 series also made in Mexico?
All the 3500 series are made in Pontiac or Flint, Michigan.

The removal of items in vehicles is pretty common. Basically how it works, a vehicle is launched and stays the same for about two years. After that, engineers have cost reduction targets to meet. Ideally, these are done by not removing content only modifying it without the customer noticing. An example could be the thinner carpet. If the a different material is selected that would give same or similar noise performance at a cheaper cost, then it normally gets put in. Unfortuately, often this cost reduction leads to decontenting that pisses off customers.

Welcome to the club! Those of us who have owned multiple GM vehicles over the years see what's going on based on what is cut out of the "Top Of The Line Models". If it were all built in Mexico, I'd say "OK, corporate USA making a buck. I'll remember that and buy foreign next time". But as those that have proudly posted before me, most of these were built in Flint, MI. :rippedhan :wtf: GM has screwed the pooch! Not to mention that I have a LLY that will overheat if I let it. GM engineers should take the route of Saddam IMHO for allowing this to happen! Further more, GM should fix all the wrong that they have made considering we have paid over $40K for our trucks!!!!!!

Rant over! I'm OK now. I have to do this every few months....

Yeah, GM is striping our trucks to save a buck
BUT, We Keep buying them...
Go Figure...

Maybe not... market share keeps slipping and a lot of people are watching the Toyota for a diesel.
Do you recall back in the mid to late 90's when GM came out and admitted that some of the mid 80's stuff was porrly engineered and built? I had several from the mid 80's and at the time they sure werent willing to admit that I had bought a POS.
GM has gone from a car/truck builder to an assembler. More and more every year they just buy parts (many foreign) and put them together.

My bad. I guess I was refering to a map of North America of all the GM plants and a description of what was being built. My wife is a non-rep working in Spring Hill, TN. All the non-reps working there were given a map and told to pick 5 places they would like to go. The 2500 HDs were in Flint. 3500's were referenced in Mexico. Maybe they are the 3500 vans?

The carpet from the front side pockets is gone, the entire storage pockets from the rear are gone, and, my pet peeve...my '05 LT had the two extra side lumbar power back supports that were absolutely great...GONE, to save a buck.

When (notice I didn't say 'if') Honda/Toyota come out with a heavy duty (dually) diesel, the big three will be in deep trouble. I'd pay more because I know I'll be getting a truck that is bullet proof, reliable and worth the extra money.

And when you buy a Dodge, the money trail doesn't stop until it gets to Germany.
