Really fuel tank size doesn't matter. Fill the truck up, reset the trip-ometer and drive. When you fill up again write down the mileage from the trip-ometer. Reset and do it again.

Then go to http://www.guycroft.clara.net/utils/mpgus.html Punch in the miles, gallons used and click compute.

You can also just use the calculator on your cell phone and divide trip meter totals miles by gallons just purchased on the pump/receipt. Record date and results in a log, reset trip meter and do it again, and again, and again....... add nauseum. I add comments to my log regarding driving (towing trailer, highway, city, scaled weight, etc) between fill-ups also and maintenance performed, oil change, fuel filter change etc.
