My 03 2500HD LB7 with no mods has a lound knock and massive black smoke now that I replaced all 8 injectors. I was getting alot of white smoke before the injectors were replaced. Afyer the replacement I started the truck and it ran fine at idle for about 30 mins. I then took it for a test drive and made it a quater mile befor thos happened. Brought it home and pulled everything apart. All my injectors looked new still exept #4. It was covered with vlack soot. Reinstalled everyrhing and I got the same results. Borrowed a Snap-On scanner and the knock and fuel went away when #4 was shut down. Read balance rates and #4 at temp was -.03. Mechanic friend suggested I replace the fpr. Replaced it this morning and ran truck to temp and all balane rates ate -2.7 to +3. Ran fine until test drive again. Quater mile drive and loud knock and smoke. Ran cyclinder shutdown again and the know doesnt go away now. The idle smoothes out when each cyclinder shuts down . Any suggestions or insite? The truck ran great before the injectors were replaced, also no coolant loss or fuel in the oil. here is a video of what it is doing.
