Hey guys this may sound stupid so have your fun now and laugh but is there an easy way to change the fuel filter. Is there a special wrench to get down there or is it easier to unbolt and unhose the filter from the truck and unscrew the filter outside the truck. I am very new to this and was very frustrated last friday when the thing gelled up on the way to work, lol. Please any suggestions or tips from all you pros? Also how often should I change all these filters on the truck, My dealer so far has not provided the manual for the diesel section so....

Some people have found that taking the inner fender off makes it easy to replace the fuel filter. I use a small strap wrench and remove it from above. Sometimes it's a breeze, others not so easy... Good luck!

If your LLY is like my LBZ I find it easier to unbolt it.

Welcome Rod! Every 10 to 15 k miles is common. Alot of guys do 5k, but I've had good luck at 10-15. I use a Lisle filter wrench with the flex handle from above standing on a milk crate. After the first one it's a 15 min job.

Thank you Mike, I have several filter wrenches, I'm sure one will do it. When I baught the truck part of the deal was a round of filters. I plan to dump all fluids at 50 k, it is around 48 and chang now. After reading here I'm going to get the by pass oil system from Amsoil and do that as well. Thanks again, Rod
