If you want to do it accurately, Kennedy Diesel has a gauge to show the fuel filter condition while it's on the truck. AFAIK, he's the only vendor that has them.:)

If not by a gauge, I would recommend every 10,000 miles. There are several vendors here that sell the fuel filters.

Some people have put a lot of miles on a fuel filter, over 18,000 miles and more and they had no problems. Some have only gotten 2,000 miles on a filter. It varies, some people not knowingly get very bad fuel and have problems. So, change often, keep a fresh filter on, say at least 8,000 miles and you will be ready for a problem if it happens. www.gmdieseltech.com has good prices on all oem GM filters...

Ditto. Fuel quality varies greatly, and every 10k is a good rule of thumb and beats the heck out of changing one on side of the road somewhere.
